A-G to lead prosecution in Najib case, says source


A source told Bernama that Attorney-General Tommy Thomas will head the prosecution team in the case involving former prime minister Najib Razak, who has been arrested in relation to the probe into SRC International. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, July 3, 2018.

NAJIB Razak is expected to face more than 10 counts of committing criminal breach of trust linked to the SRC International case, said a source.

The source said the former prime minister will be charged tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex, and that new Attorney-General Tommy Thomas will lead the prosecution.

A court source said Najib will be charged at the Criminal Sessions Court 2, located on Level 4 on the right wing of the court complex.

It is learnt that the case will be mentioned before the most senior sessions court judge, Zainal Abidin Kamarudin, and then transferred to the Criminal High Court 1 before judge Azman Abdullah.

The 1Malaysia Development Bhd special task force today said Najib was arrested at his residence in Jalan Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, at 2.35pm, in relation to the probe into former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International.

It said he will be charged at 8.30am tomorrow. – Bernama, July 3, 2018.
