NEW Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters in Putrajaya at 9.55am to assist investigations into the alleged misappropriation of funds involving a foundation run by his family.

He allegedly used RM800,000 from Akal Budi Foundation to pay off the credit card bills racked up by him and his wife.

This is the second day that the former deputy prime minister will be having his statements recorded here.

He spent nine hours at the MACC office yesterday to assist in a probe into troubled state fund, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Earlier, former Felda chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad was spotted at the MACC headquarters at 9.40am.

Shahrir, in white shirt and black trousers, told the media that he was here to have his statement recorded over acceptance of funds.

He refused to disclose whether the funds were linked to 1MDB or Felda.

Today, Zahid appeared cheerful despite spending almost the whole of yesterday at the anti-graft agency being grilled over his meeting with the representative of the Saudi royal who allegedly donated RM2.6 billion to former prime minister Najib Razak.

The 1MDB special task force also said yesterday a total of 408 bank accounts belonging to 81 individuals and 55 companies amounting to RM1.1 billion were frozen by MACC in connection with the 1MDB probe since the end of May. – July 3, 2018.

  • Wow! An 800k credit card bill of an MP/DPM and wife. Cool. Politics must be pretty lucrative.
