LEADER of the Red Shirts movement, Jamal Yunos, who had taunted police after jumping bail last month, was today nabbed by Indonesian police.

He was arrested in Jakarta about 6.15pm while having a haircut.

Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Malaysian police would be working with their Indonesian counterparts to bring the fugitive home.

“I would like to thank Indonesia, in particular the police, for their assistance,” he said in a statement this evening.

Jamal is charged with being a public nuisance over an incident of him smashing cases of beer in front of the Selangor secretariat building last October.

The Sungai Besar Umno division chief is also under investigation for contravening the Firearms Act by displaying a pistol in public.

Jamal was charged while he was being treated for a back problem at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital and he had fled while in remand.

Despite his no show at the recent Umno polls, Jamal managed to retain his post as Sungai Besar Umno division chief.

At the party elections on Saturday, Jamal, who had addressed the division delegate via video, was re-elected by to lead the division for another term of three years. – July 2, 2018.

  • Nice job , Indonesian polisi. Corrupted as you are, send the fugitive back to Malaysia without asking for commission.

    • It's not fair to blame TMY. We clearly need to retrain out police and immigration officers. They are a way to lackadaisical.

  • Luckily he wasn't elected UMNO Youth Chief, otherwise it will be a huge embarrassment to the Party.
