TWO Malindo Air aircraft have been grounded in India and Bangladesh, causing delays to flights in Malaysia and Vietnam.

A Malindo Air spokesperson told The Malaysian Insight the planes were being grounded in New Delhi and Dhaka due to technical issues.

“A number of departures were affected as a consequence of the two aircraft being grounded. But service is going back to normal now,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson, however, did not explain what kind of technical issues had caused the planes to be grounded or the type of aircraft involved.

“Safety is of utmost priority and the airline apologises for the inconvenience caused,” she added.

The spokesperson said the airline will issue a statement in due time.

Facebook users have complained of flights being rescheduled and delays since June 30.

Passenger Karnila Ahmad Rasya wrote on her FB page last night: “Flight from Kuching to KL was delayed from 8.55pm to 10.00pm. And now it will delay again to 12.00 am in the morning. How long do we need to wait?”

Malindo Air is jointly owned by Indonesian company PT Lion Group and National Aerospace & Defence Industry. PT Lion Group also owns Indonesian budget airlines Lion Air. – July 2, 2017.
