LIM Kit Siang should get his own house in order before making demands on the government, press secretary to the prime minister Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad said today.
Sariffuddin listed several issues that the DAP national adviser should focus on, including getting his son, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to step down as Penang chief minister pending a corruption inquiry.
“Lim Kit Siang should ask his son ‘Penang Official 1’ to step down in lieu of his impending corruption case. Only then would people take Kit Siang’s demands of others seriously,” he said in a statement.
Sariffuddin added that Kit Siang should stop diverting attention from the Bank Negara forex scandal, in which up to US$10 billion was allegedly lost in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Kit Siang yesterday called on Prime Minister Najib Razak, his government, BN and its allies to stop disseminating false information over the US Department of Justice’s suits to seize assets allegedly purchased with stolen funds from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
He said there seemed to be a concerted effort by BN and its allies to paint the asset forfeiture suits as a form of foreign intervention.
Sariffuddin said Kit Siang should also reveal the wrongdoings of his former nemesis-turn-ally, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in the issue, adding that their newfound alliance showed his lack of principles and integrity.
“In this day and age, the people have no respect for a dictator, whether self-confessed like Mahathir or dictators-in-denial like Kit Siang. Hence any statements by Kit Siang are self serving and cannot be trusted or believed,” Sariffuddin said.
The press secretary then touched on the issue of who would be prime minister if Pakatan Harapan won in the coming 14th general election.
“Kit Siang should stop trying to hide that DAP has by far the most opposition seats, and therefore in reality calls the shots behind the scenes.
“As DAP is the clear opposition leader, Malaysians need to know who Kit Siang will nominate to be prime minister if the opposition wins the next general election.
“Kit Siang must come clean on his choice for PM, as it is the right of the people to know who they will be ruled by if they vote for the opposition,” said Sariffuddin, adding that a Kit Siang and DAP-led government would be a disaster for Malaysia and the people. – June 27, 2017.
