Khairy should not be contesting Umno presidency, says Ku Li

KHAIRY Jamaluddin has to accept defeat open-heartedly if he loses his bid for the Umno presidential seat, said Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Tengku Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li, said all competitions carry a risk and Khairy should be prepared to accept any result.

“He is very smart to want to compete. He should not compete because there is a risk in competing (for the president’s post),” he said after a meeting with representatives from the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings of Umno from the Federal Territories, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Malacca in Kuala Lumpur today.

“There is luck in winning or losing… Let it be determined in the future,” he said, referring to whether Khairy would be given a position in the party should the former win the post.

The election for the Umno presidency will be held on Saturday.

Ku Li will go up against Khairy, former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and two other candidates. – June 28, 2018.
