STILL reeling from its general election defeat, Umno received yet another body blow after the party’s bank accounts were frozen by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today.
Its acting president, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said MACC’s move will disrupt the running of the party and hamper efforts to revive the Barisan Nasional lynchpin.
Zahid said he received a call from the MACC notifying him that the accounts had been frozen.

Zahid reportedly said it was possible that Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin would also order the Registrar of Society to deregister Umno soon.
The decision comes at the tail end of a party election campaign in which Zahid has been working to become party president.
He faces veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and fomer youth and sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Party members will vote for the party’s new leadership on Saturday. – June 28, 2018.
