AHMAD Zahid Hamidi has pledged to stick with Umno and support its new leader should he lose the contest for the president’s post.

The acting president denied rumours that he would leave the party and form his own if things did not go his way.

“I will remain in Umno, and I will help whoever becomes president. I will contribute ideas.

“If I win, I will not forsake anybody,” he said in a press conference today.

The former deputy prime minster said he decided to contest the top post in the June 30 party polls to ensure “continuity” from the previous leadership.

“I am providing continuity in leadership. I have been given the mandate to run Umno. The offer for me is to continue this.”
