NEW Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said he will ensure continuity in the state’s administration and policies started by his predecessor Mohamed Azmin Ali.

In his maiden speech as after clocking in for the first time as menteri besar in Malaysia’s richest state, he said he would continue the “peduli rakyat” (care for the people) policy started by Azmin that had brought a lot of change to the citizens of Selangor

“I pledge to ensure continuity in the excellent administration and to take Selangor’s growth to the next level for the prosperity of the people and the state.

“No man is an island. Steering the administration will need ‘esprit de corps’ – strong and dynamic teamwork and the cooperation of all parties.

“I will muster the strength and teamwork of the state executive council and the state civil service to realise every people-centric policy and initiative,” he said in his speech.

Amirudin was sworn-in yesterday as the 16th menteri besar of Selangor, replacing Azmin who is now economic affairs minister.

The 38-year-old arrived at his new office at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah at 7.55am, accompanied by state secretary Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya and excos Teng Chang Khim, Haniza Talha, Abdul Rashid Asari and Hee Loy Sian, on his first day at work.

Amirudin also said the state government would focus on improving people’s housing, healthcare, transportation, job opportunities, sustainability and the environment – just like what Azmin’s administration had done for the last three years and eight months. – June 20, 2018.
