THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has begun its probe into development at Taman Rimba Kiara park, as Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh today urged the body to keep the public updated on its investigation.

Yeoh said she was told to not comment on the matter as the MACC was in the process of investigating the matter.

“In Kuala Lumpur, I know a lot of people want to know the status (of the investigation) and I hope the MACC will give updates on it, especially former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s role in it,” she said at the Segambut parliamentary office in Kuala Lumpur today.

On May 16, Yeoh had lodged a report with the MACC against landowner Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, which is chaired by Tengku Adnan, over the proposed development of a condominium in the park.

Recently, Save Taman Rimba Kiara group committee coordinator Leon Koay had said a judicial review hearing against the condominium development had been postponed to September due to fresh affidavits filed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Koay told The Malaysian Insight that the group’s lawyers had requested the postponement as they needed time to reply the affidavits.

The group had opposed the development and taken its developer, Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd, to court.

The proposed development was approved last November and involves eight blocks of 42- and 52-storey high-end service apartments and a 30-storey block of affordable housing. – June 20, 2018.
