SUNGAI Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari took his oath of office as the Selangor menteri besar today at the Istana Alam Shah in Klang, witnessed by state officials and the state’s elected representatives in Parliament and the legislative assembly.

He was sworn in before Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, taking the oaths of secrecy as head of the state government and to defend the royal institution as well as the special position of the Malays and the interests of other communities.

Amirudin succeeds Azmin Ali, who is now Economic Affairs Minister in the Pakatan Harapan cabinet.

The Selangor PKR secretary, has been a close associate of Azmin’s since PKR was founded in 1998. He was also a state exco in the previous term, holding the portfolio of youth, sports, culture and entrepreneurship development.

Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail also took her oath of office today as a state exco member.

Rodziah is also political secretary to Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She was previously the Selangor exco for welfare, women’s affairs, science, technology and innovation (2008-2013).

The excos already sworn in on May 14 are Lembah Jaya rep Haniza Mohamed Talha (PKR), Seri Setia rep Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin (PKR), Kajang rep Hee Loy Sian (PKR), Bandar Baru Klang rep Teng Chang Kim (DAP), Kota Kemuning rep V. Ganabatirau (DAP), Kinrara rep Ng Sze Han (DAP), Seri Serdang rep Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (Amanah), Pandan Indah rep Izham Hashim (Amanah) and Selat Kelang rep Abdul Rashid Ansari (Amanah). – June 19, 2018.
