I cannot rest, says Dr Mahathir on Hari Raya eve

PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is still busy on the eve of Hari Raya, saying he was still working as there is so much to be done in the country.

“Today is the last day of fasting. Tomorrow, we will celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

But, on the last day, I’m still swamped with work. I have to work until the evening; I cannot rest,” Dr Mahathir said in a video that was posted on his Twitter account.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman also advised those on the road to be safe and not to disappoint their families by getting in an accident.

“To those who are travelling back, remember your family awaits you. You do not want to disappoint them by meeting with an accident.

“Drive carefully and safely. Better safe than sorry. Do not be in hurry,” Dr Mahathir said.

He also had words of caution for Malaysians not to over-eat during the festive season and to refrain from playing with fireworks.

Dr Mahathir also revealed his favourite Raya moments in the video, including:

Favourite kuih: “Kuih Makmur, but less sweet. I used to take it sweet before but now I take it less sweet.”

Favourite Raya song: “Selamat Hari Raya by Sudirman.”

Favourite Raya outfit colour: “Purple.”

Favourite Raya moment: “When the family gathers after I come back from prayers. We celebrate Raya with the whole family.”

Favourite Raya memory: “There was this one Raya where the whole family was here. Sometimes, there are those who cannot make it, so it will be less vibrant. But on that particular Raya, we were all together and took a group picture.” – June 14, 2018.
