THE value of the items seized so far from premises linked to former prime minister Najib Razak may exceed half a billion ringgit, with the process of evaluating the luxury items still ongoing, The Sun Daily reports.

Sources told the newspaper that the valuation will be completed within weeks now that the police’s Commercial Crime Investigation Division has engaged a third-party valuer.

The items include those seized earlier this week from two houses in Precinct 10, Putrajaya, linked to Najib.

Forty handbags and documents were seized from these locations, the report said.

Najib’s residence at Jalan Langgak Duta and three luxury condominium units at Pavilion Residences were the week after Pakatan Harapan took over the federal government through elections on May 9.

The raids at Pavilion Residences yielded RM114 million in cash, and 284 boxes of handbags, as well as jewellery and watches.

The seizures were made as part of investigations into Najib in connection with funds allegedly stolen from 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

Najib and wife Rosmah Mansor have both been barred from leaving Malaysia. Both have also been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in relation to SRC International, a former 1MDB subsidiary and one of the entities through which money allegedly stolen from 1MDB was channelled into Najib’s personal bank accounts. – June 13, 2018.
