PROMINENT lawyer Syahredzan Johan is DAP leader Lim Kit Siang’s new political secretary. 

In a statement, the party said the 35-year old Syahredzan was appointed to assist Lim in his duties as parliamentary leader andIskandar Puteri MP. 

“DAP is happy to announce the appointment of Sdr Syahredzan Johan, as the political secretary to DAP Parliamentary Leader and MP for Iskandar Puteri, Lim Kit Siang,” the party said in a statement today. 

Syahredzan is known for his work on public cases related to human rights and constitutional law. 

He said he was honoured by the appointment and would benefit greatly from working with the minister. 

“I am truly honoured with the appointment. Lim Kit Siang is a veteran and respected politician and I am sure that I will learn a lot from him,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

He also said he would continue his legal practice as the position was an appointment and not a paid position.  

“Also for the record, the appointment is not an employment. I am still a practising lawyer.” – June 9, 2018.
