No more admin work for teachers

THE Education Ministry has halted its audit series with immediate effect because of the paperwork burden it placed on teachers.

The Malaysian education quality standard (SKPMg2) 2017 is currently undertaken by the Inspectorate and Quality Assurance Council (JNJK). 

Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said teachers complained about the amount of paperwork and he decided to end the audit with immediate effect. 

“I want to lessen the burden currently faced by teachers. In line with the Pakatan Harapan promise, the new government aims to lessen their burden. 

“Therefore, I have decided to end the audit series which is being carried out by JNJK with immediate effect,” he said at the Higher Education Ministry today. 

SKPMg2 was first implemented in March 2017 as part of efforts to ensure the education sector is transformed in line with the global education needs. 

However, Maszlee said the audit process and data input verification for SKPMg2 in 2017 were a cause of concern among teachers. 

“I want to lessen teachers’ burden so that they can focus on educating pupils,” said Maszlee.

Recently, the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) urged Maszlee to resolve the issue surrounding SKPMg2, which was said to have burdened teachers with a large amount of paperwork.

Maszlee also released the results of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university rankings for 2019 which was released earlier today. 

Universiti Malaya (UM) is positioned among the top 100 universities worldwide for the first time at No. 87.

It is the best ranking it has ever achieved after moving up 27 places from the 114th spot last year. 

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) climbed 46 spots and currently sits among the top 200, ranking at No. 184, while Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) ranked No. 202.

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) went up to No. 207th from 264 and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from No. 253 to 228. – June 7, 2018.

  • We must really try going back to the spirit of post-Merdeka, 1957, days when teaching was excellent, that is before the politicians began tinkering with the education system & blundered badly in the process, affecting so very many students in the process..

  • The ministry must all step to vet the PBIG accounts. Even thought the student parent set in the committee of PIBG ..THE SCHOOL HEAD ARE THE YTP( PRESIDENT) of the PIBG and in short they spent the money at their own fancies n some goes into their pockets .....THE PARENTS WHO SITS IN THE COMMITTEE DARE NOT RAISE THIS ISSUE JUST BECAUSE THE CHILDREN ARE STILL STUDENT IN THE SCHOOL?

    • Dr. MASZLEE should understand which parent dare to raise up such issue, if they were to raise where to raise it...in the meeting..... sorry sir ? Their children faith will be the SAME LIKE TS MUHUDDIN AND TS APDEL. .I call upon the Dr Maszlee to come with a suggestion of HOW TO CURTAIL SUCH ACTIVITIES OF STEALING STUDENT MONEY IN TABUNG PIBG. .THIS IS DAY LIGHT ROBBERY OF THE STUDENT AND PARENTS MONEY.
