LEE Suet Fern, the wife of Lee Hsien Yang, has stepped down as managing partner of Morgan Lewis Stamford’s Singapore office, Today reported this evening.

Ng Joo Khin will take over the position in a “leadership transition” that has been in the planning for a while now.

Suet Fern, 59, will continue to helm the firm’s international leadership team.

“(Suet Fern) will continue to spend a significant amount of time in Singapore as well as travel to Hong Kong, as she already does in support of her strong client relationships there and as head of our international leadership team,” a spokesman from the law firm told Today.

Suet Fern declined to comment.

Suet Fern had on Wednesday told a news portal that she and her husband were in the process of getting ready to leave Singapore, following Hsien Yang and his sister Dr Lee Wei Ling’s public airing of a list of grievances against their brother, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Her husband had also expressed intention to leave the country due to fears of persecution by the PM using “organs of state”.

As a partner in the law firm that had prepared the last will of Lee Kuan Yew, Suet Fern has not been excluded from the highly-publicised feud between the three children of Singapore first prime minister.

Her successor, Ng has also been party to the family quarrel, being the person Suet Fern said had prepared her father-in-law’s will. Suet Fern’s role in the drawing up of the will has also been central to the three siblings’ row over the execution of that will, in particular, over the fate of Kuan Yew’s house at 38, Oxley Road.

Educated at Cambridge, Suet Fern founded Singapore-based regional law firm Stamford Law Corporation, now Morgan Lewis Stamford, 17 years ago. – June 16, 2017.
