MALAYSIAN Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers seized documents recording the sale of land dating back to 2008 in yesterday’s raid on City Hall, said Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz.
The Kuala Lumpur mayor said complete reports from the time of his predecessor, Ahmad Fuad Ismail were confiscated. Fuad was in office from 2008 to 2012.
“They took all the records of the land sales, the costs, and the purpose of the transactions from Fuad’s time to the current deals.
“All the information are in the reports and they can access it,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
Yesterday, MACC raided Menara DBKL and seized documents related to the sale of 64 lots of City Hall land worth RM4.28 billion.
A source said the commission opened investigations into the case last mont.
Amin confirmed the documents seized from the Economic Planning and Development Department were related to the sale of City Hall land.
He said City Hall staff had extended their fullest cooperation to the MACC officers raiding the office.
“We have got nothing to hide. They raided us just like anyone else and we gave them our full cooperation.”
He was unable to say if MACC would visit again, but said that so far no one had been summoned for questioning.
“We leave that to the MACC. Have to check with them (if they returning to DBKL).”
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed the raid but hadrefused to divulge the details.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng lodged a report with the commission on May 16 claiming City Hall had sold 64 lots of land totalling 171.7ha, without going through the process of an open tender to Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, between 2013 and this year.
Former Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor allegedly approved the transaction. – June 6, 2018.
