RTM already has half the funds it needs for World Cup, says Gobind

Multimedia and Information Minister Gobind Singh Deo says RTM only needs RM30 million to broadcast 41 live World Cup matches and it has already secured RM15 million. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Seth Akmal, May 31, 2018.

THE government has already secured half of the costs for airing 2018 World Cup live matches on national television, said Multimedia and Information Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

“The costs for airing 41 World Cup matches is around RM30 million and not RM40 million. And we have already secured around RM15 million worth of sponsorship,” Gobind said.

He said that Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) will try to get more sponsorship to air the matches.

“This is a platform for RTM to become a channel that is enjoyed by all,” he added.

The government announced yesterday that it would air World Cup matches on RTM. – May 31, 2018.

  • Way to go Gobind. Actually RM30m advertising is not difficult to get to pay for the entire thing..From the start, I do not get it what the worry is about the cost...

  • Through effective airtime marketing, RTM should not only be able to cover the airing costs but also generate profits.
