A TEAM from the Dang Wangi police headquarters today returned to Najib Razak’s Jalan Langgak Duta home.

The investigators were there to record the former prime minister’s statement, following his complaint last week of police misconduct when officers raided his daughter and son’s Pavilion Residences condominium units.

The team arrived at 11.30am, and spent an hour and a half taking Najib’s statement as part of an internal inquiry into whether police had violated standard operating procedures when carrying out the searches.

“The file will be forwarded to the contingent police headquarters, and if the top officer feels that it needs federal police’s take on the matter, the paper will be handed to Bukit Aman,” said sources.

Najib had lodged a report with Sentul police days after three condominium units linked to him were raided. Two of them were home to his son, Ashman, and daughter, Nooryana Najwa.

Two days ago, Nooryana, too, lodged a report on the incident. On the same day, police visited Najib’s home and recorded Nooryana’s statement.

The embattled former prime minister is at the centre of police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd and SRC International, a former subsidiary of the state investor. – May 30, 2018.
