PUTRAJAYA today announced that there will be no price hike for diesel and RON95 fuel, but market forces will determine the pump price for RON97.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the new rate and mechanism will be revealed by the Finance Ministry tomorrow.

The pump price for RON95 is now RM2.20 per litre, RON97 (RM2.47) and diesel (RM2.18).

Fuel prices have remained unchanged since Pakatan Harapan took over Putrajaya on May 9.

The weekly fuel pricing mechanism came into effect in April last year under the Barisan Nasional administration.

The prices of petrol and diesel have been placed on a managed monthly float system since December 1, 2014, following the removal of fuel subsidies.

PH, in its election manifesto, promised to fix fuel prices.

Dr Mahathir also announced that toll rates nationwide will be slashed by 50% for the two days before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which falls on June 15 and 16. – May 30, 2018.
