POLICE should be the ones to investigate allegations levelled against the Malaysian Aviation Commission by AirAsia chief executive officer Tony Fernandes, said the Mavcom executive chairman today.

Abdullah Ahmad said the commission had lodged a police report on the matter and is awaiting further action by the authorities.

“It is now a police case. There is no discussion on that. We leave it to the police,” he said at a press conference today to coincide with new Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s visit to the Mavcom office in KL Sentral.

Loke also refused to comment on the matter.

“I did not raise the issue just now. I do not interfere. Mavcom made a police report and is up to the police,” he said.

Fernandes alleged that Mavcom forced him to cancel flights ahead of the 14th general election, a claim which the commission disputed.

It later lodged a police report against Fernandes.

AirAsia said it had proof against Mavcom and would furnish it to the authorities. – May 28, 2018.
