MACC to question 50 individuals as part of FGV probe

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will haul up 50 individuals to assist in its investigations into Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV).

Among them are FGV chairman Isa Samad and chief executive officer Zakaria Arshad, said MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Azam Baki.

Azam was quoted in Berita Harian as saying that the individuals will be called to give their statements this week.

“We believe that their statements will help us complete our probe quickly.

“I don’t dismiss the possibility that Isa and Zakaria will be called to give statements, too,” said Azam.

Another team of MACC officers will be despatched to Felda to collect more documents, said Azam.

MACC officers turned up at the FGV headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on June 8 to seize documents following the boardroom tussle at the plantation giant.

The development comes after the anti-graft agency questioned Zakaria for four hours on business dealings between Afghan company Safitex and FGV subsidiary Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd on June 7.

Zakaria had alleged financial mismanagement and other improprieties related to the Afghan deal. – June 13, 2017.
