Heatwave warning for Pahang, Kelantan

The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a Level 1 heatwave warning for six districts in the peninsula.

The alert applies to the districts of Raub, Temerloh, Maran, Bentong, and Rompin in Pahang, and Kuala Krai in Kelantan.

A Level 1 alert is issued when temperatures reach between 35C and 37C for three consecutive days.

An orange alert, or Level 2 heatwave warning, is issued when temperatures reach between 37C and 40C for three days in a row.

A red alert is issued when temperatures soar past 40C for three consecutive days, indicating an extreme heatwave.

Meanwhile, Kampung Raja Besut in Terengganu reported an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 167 at 10am today.

API readings between 101 and 200 are considered unhealthy.

Seberang Jaya and Seberang Perai in Penang, Taiping in Perak, Banting in Selangor, and Tanah Merah in Kelantan recorded API readings bordering on unhealthy. – July 26, 2024.
