Le Tour De Langkawi extends experience to amateur cyclists through Domestique

THE National Sports Council has announced the launch of Domestique by Le Tour De Langkawi (LTDL), a groundbreaking event that extends the prestigious experience to amateur cyclists for the first time in its 27-year history.

Organised by Cyclomotion Sdn Bhd and 36Five X Sdn Bhd, and supported by the National Sports Council, the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) and Tourism Malaysia, this event aims to empower amateur cyclists with a professional racing experience.

Domestique, which covers a distance of 96.5km, offers amateur cyclists a unique opportunity to experience the pulse of Le Tour de Langkawi, the organizers said in a statement.

They said the event is dedicated to nurturing a vibrant cycling culture, promoting physical fitness and celebrating the spirit of competition at one of Malaysia’s most iconic sports venues.

Emir Abdul Jalal, the chief executive officer of LTDL, said they are proud to extend the LTDL experience to amateurs through Domestique.

“This initiative not only honours the legacy of LTDL but also enriches our community by making the thrill of professional cycling accessible to all,” he said.

The event will be held on September 28, in Langkawi, Kedah with the organisers expecting some 2,000 amateur cyclists to take part.

Substantial prizes totalling RM31,700 are to be won across multiple categories of various age and gender groups.

As for registration, the first 300 participants will be given an early bird rate of RM120 per person, while a promotional rate of RM150 per person will be given to the next 200 individuals.

Thereafter the normal rate of RM180 will be applied to subsequent participants.

The organisers are also offering tailored travel packages to enhance participants’ experiences, including accommodations and exclusive services.

This event aims to strengthen the identity of the cycling community in Malaysia and the broader region, making professional cycling’s thrills and challenges accessible to a wider audience. – July 25, 2024.
