ALL Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students who scored 10As and above but have yet to be given colleges for the matriculation programme will get their offers by next month, reported Malaysiakini.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced this while winding up to points raised during a debate on the matter in parliament’s special chambers this afternoon.

Fadhlina, said the ministry had received a total of 4,877 applications from SPM students with outstanding results.

From the number, 3,684 of them have been offered spots during the first intake of matriculation students this year, of which 2,496 are bumiputera and 1,188 non-bumiputera.

She said 400 others have been offered to enrol in the matriculation programme in the second intake after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement on June 30, where he assured that all SPM students who scored 10As and above would get to enter the programme.

Of the 400, 33 of them are bumiputera while 367 are non-bumiputera, Fadhlina said.

“To answer the question of what action the ministry is taking to fulfil the PM’s promise, the balance of 10As SPM scorers will be offered (to enrol in matriculation) in stages, and we will ensure each one of them gets the offer.

“You are the first to hear this from the education minister, that all of them will be receiving offers.

“The remaining 10A students whose applications were rejected previously will be given the opportunity to enrol in the matriculation programme.

“This will be done latest by the third week of August,” she said. – July 11, 2024.
