MINISTER and agencies using government machinery in election campaigns will face disciplinary action, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told parliament today.
Anwar gave the assurance following a cabinet decision to prohibit ministers, civil servants, and government agencies from utilising government machinery to campaign for elections.
“However, if a project began before nomination day, I do not believe it warrants further scrutiny,” he said.
He said this was to combat corruption.
“If there is a violation of this, the cabinet should take disciplinary action,” he said during ministers’ question time.
He said this while replying to Datuk Awang Hashim (Pendang-PN), who wanted to know if the government will stop announcing new projects in seats up for election. β July 9, 2024.
