MALAY support has dropped signification for Perikatan Nasional in Sungai Bakap since the state elections last year, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said.
Speaking at a ceramah last night in Nibong Tebal, Rafizi said this was discovered in a PKR survey.
He said only 48% of Malays in Sungai Bakap support PN, a big drop from 77% just 10 months ago.
“When we asked the voters if they were happy with PN’s performance over the past year, we expected 70% o support (the coalition). However, only 48% did,” he was quoted as saying in New Straits Times today.
He said the chief grouse was about PN’s management of the state seat.
The dissatisfaction was even more pronounced among Chinese and Indian voters, the economy minister said..
In the August 2023 elections, the Sungai Bakap state seat, traditionally a stronghold of Barisan Nasional and PH, was won by PN’s Nor Zamri Latiff.
The seat became vacant following Nor Zamri’s death on May 24, triggering a by-election that will see a straight fight between Dr Joohari Ariffin (PH) and Abidin Ismail (PN). – June 30, 2024.
