MALAYSIA will not be safe as long as there in corruption, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

He said police must take stern action against criminals and the corrupt regardless of their status, Bernama reports.

Anwar said the people feel uneasy and complain when investigations into crime take a long time.

He said they should understand that it is necessary to ensure that investigations are conducted fairly.

“I don’t want to be a prime minister (who protects) criminals and the corrupt. So make sure actions (against them) are professional; do not punish without facts and consider the law.

“I address this matter directly in this event because dedicated sportsmen and sportswomen are also victims.

“This assurance is crucial to ensure that all citizens, whether athletes or civil servants, know that there are firm actions being taken,” he said yesterday in Bukit Jalil. – June 14, 2024.
