THREE people were killed and 36 others injured when a bus landed on its side on a slope following an collision with a trailer in Jalan Bahau-Keratong, near Muadzam Shah, reports said.
District police chief Nor Azman Yusof said the bus, carrying 39 people, including two drivers, hit a lorry laden with iron coils and overturned, about 1.30am today.
Teacher Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, died on the spot and driver Adi Hasan, 29, died on the way to hospital.
Rompin police chief Nor Azman Yusof said the third victim was Hamzah Ahmad, 60, who died in Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, Kuantan.
He said the bus was carrying teachers and students from SK Jeram Masjid Tanah in Malacca to Terengganu for a school programme
“Initial investigations found that the accident occurred when the bus driver lost control and collided with a trailer lorry before overturning on the roadside slope,” he said,
The injured were brought to be treated in Muadzam Shah Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan. – June 8, 2024.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said she was waiting for a full report on the accident.
She said several teachers who were badly injured in the crash were reported to be in intensive care.
Fadhlina said her office will send counsellors to the school to offer support to the teachers and students. – June 9, 2024.
