THERE is to be no contest for the Bersatu presidency when the.party holds elections in October.
Party secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin said the decision was endorsed in a meeting on Friday, confirming that Muhyiddin Yassin would stay on as the president.
Hamzah said the party will conduct polls for other positions. As required by the party constitution, candidates must submit their applications to the Bersatu supreme council.
“The meeting also decided the dates for branch meetings, which are from July 20 to to August 31, and division meetings from October 12 to 26,” he said in a statement today.
The associate and women’s wings will hold their assemblies on November 28 and 29, respective. The main assembly will be held on November 30 to December 1.
Hamzah announced Radzi Jidin and Abdullah Omar Bledram as the protem chiefs of the Putrajaya and Labuan divisions, respectively.
He said the meeting discussed the status of seven former Bersatu elected representatives who had declared their support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and that secretary-general was told to take follow-up action. – June 9, 2024.
