MCA Youth information chief Neow Choo Seong has raised concerns regarding a purported list of 31 companies, which has surfaced on social media, that were denied the chance to participate in an open tender for the demand-responsive transit (DRT) pilot project in Selangor. 

The list includes reputable names in the industry such as Big Blue Capital, Cab Mobility, DB Network, DMD Technology, EZCab, Faszz Technology, and Grab.

“To ensure transparency and good governance, which (are traits) always emphasised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Anthony Loke and Ng Sze Han, (both of whom) are responsible for transport at the federal and Selangor state levels, respectively, must come forward to explain to the public i to avoid misperceptions about the unity government,” Neow said in a statement today.

He asked why the DRT pilot project in Selangor was awarded to two companies without an open tender, including one allegedly owned by the spouse of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, who is from the DAP.

“In the event the 31 companies were indeed ineligible, those accountable must address the rakyat on this.”

Yeoh’s husband, Ramachandran Muniandy has said that Asia Mobiliti, a company he co-founded, was selected by the Selangor government purely on merit and not because he was married to a minister.

He said that his company had met all the requirements to become a service provider for the Selangor Mobility DRT system.

The company has been awarded the contract for a nine-month pilot project.

The direct appointment of Asia Mobiliti has come under public scrutiny over the company’s links to Yeoh.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki had previously said there was no need to open an investigation into the case as no crime had been committed.

He said this was because it was the Selangor government and not Yeoh’s office that had given out the  contract.

Yeoh had welcomed a probe, saying she wanted “to see truth and vindication come out of this investigation”. – June 5, 2024
