PUTRAJAYA is determined to eradicate hardcore poverty in Terengganu within the next two months, Bernama reports.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said there were 1,663 hardcore-poor households in the state.

He said federal agencies had been instructed to work with the state government to end hardcore poverty in Terengganu.

“Don’t tell me that with the wealth of all the agencies, the ministry is unable to rescue 1,000 families from hardcore poverty?” he said.

He said the poor do not have enough food and cannot afford clothing and school uniforms for their children.

“If the federal government and the state governments fully cooperate, hardcore poverty here can be eradicated,” he said yesterday during a visit to Terengganu.

Anwar told the people of Terengganu not to believe the allegations that the federal government was neglecting the state because it was governed by the opposition.

He assured them that the federal government was working to quickly improve their welfare by expediting flood mitigation, education, health, and infrastructure projects.

“Madani has no meaning if priority is not given to the welfare of the people,” he said. – May 10, 2024.
