JOHOR police chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat revealed that a partial human skeleton discovered in an abandoned house in Batu 7, Tongkang Pechah in Batu Pahat is believed to be connected to the disappearance of Mira Sharmila Samsusah, also known as Bella, who was reported missing since last December 14.

The skeleton was found around 2pm after one of the arrested suspects guided the police to the location.

He said since clothes were also found at the scene of the incident, a DNA test will be done to confirm the victim’s identity.

“Bella’s family has been informed about the discovery, but we have not been able to confirm whether the skeleton belongs to the woman.

“This skeleton will be taken to the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru for DNA testing and (results) will only be known between two weeks to a month,” he said.

Earlier reports indicated that Bella, a single mother of two, went missing after leaving her house in her boyfriend’s car, wearing only a dark blue caftan to do laundry at a laundromat. Despite efforts to contact her, there has been no trace of the 32-year-old, as she remained unreachable on her mobile phone, and messages sent through WhatsApp went unanswered.

Bella’s sister, Norisham, aged 36, expressed trust in her intuition upon hearing about the discovery of the human skeleton. She initially believed it was not Bella.

However, she stated that if the identity is confirmed to be her younger sister, the family would rely on providence and hope that appropriate punishment will be meted out to the perpetrator(s) of the case. – Bernama, January 19, 2024.
