Papagomo claims trial to sedition charge

CONTROVERSIAL blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, popularly known as Papagomo, has claimed trial to a sedition charge that alleged the government is pro-Israel.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of issuing the seditious statement via Halid Hamidi’s Facebook page (Halid Mat Kool) at 1pm on November 8, 2023.

If found guilty, the 40-year-old faces a maximum RM5,000 fine or jail term not exceeding three years, under section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948.

Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini set bail at RM7,000 with one surety and set February 5 for mention of the case.

Counsel Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali acted for Wan Azri while deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P. Kunyalam prosecuted. – January 8, 2024.
