Trio remanded for kidnapping student

THREE individuals have been arrested for allegedly abducting a teenage girl outside SMK Kepong on Friday.

Gombak district police chief Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, in a statement, said the girl’s father lodged a report over the incident which took place on the morning of January 5.

“At approximately 7am, a 17-year-old female student was forcibly taken from in front of SMK Kepong and taken to a homestay before being released at noon on the same day.

“Acting on this incident, at approximately 11.30pm on the same day, the police arrested two men and a woman who were suspected to be involved in this incident.

“The victim recognised one of the suspects as the victim’s ex-boyfriend, who was unhappy because the victim broke off the relationship,” he said in the statement.

The case is being investigated under section 365 of the penal code for kidnapping.

If found guilty the suspects could be jailed for a maximum of seven years and also liable to fine.

“All those arrested have been remanded for four days from January 6 to 9,” he added.
