ECONOMY Minister Rafizi Ramli said his ministry took swift action to address issues with the Central Database Hub (PADU) after its launch.

Rafizi on X said the issue where one’s identification card number could be used to override and change their passwords was resolved last night.

“Weaknesses in handling this authentication were not found during the Security Posture Assessment. The team took immediate action, and the issue was solved within one hour on January 2, 2024, at 9.15pm,” he said.

As at 10am today, 233,782 people were registered with PADU, with 118,115 having completed the electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification.

On bugs and vulnerabilities in the system, Rafizi said information updates could be done immediately after logging in without an eKYC verification.

Rafizi said the verification would only be needed once the information was updated and one wanted to authenticate the submission.

Any information submitted without eKYC verification would not be logged into PADU, and only data submitted by users who successfully complete the eKYC verification would be considered valid.

“eKYC is a user identification verification. Users must ensure all updated information is saved on each variable, and once all the information is saved, users must complete the eKYC to verify the updated new information,” he said.

Rafizi said the same phone number could be used up to five times to make it easier for those without phones to register a PADU account.

“Everyone over the age of 18 must have their own individual account, and for the purpose of household data, those in one household must be included under one household together with other family members, including those under the age of 18 and non-citizens.

“To ensure household information is coordinated, only the head of the household is allowed to update the household data. Verification for household members can only be made after the head of household has entered their household information,” he said. – Bernama, January 3, 2024.
