PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim will launch the Central Database Hub, containing individual and household profiles of citizens and permanent residents in Malaysia, at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre tomorrow.

The ceremony, set for 8.30am to 2pm, will see a presentation on PADU by chief statistician Mohd Uzir Mahidin and a forum titled “Driving Transition Through PADU” before Anwar launches the system at 12.15pm.

The Economy Ministry on its Facebook page said PADU would be officially open to all Malaysians after the launch.

PADU’s objective is to provide a safe, comprehensive and near-real-time national database that enables accurate data analytics for policy formulation and data-driven decision-making processes, besides enabling targeted policy implementation to balance Malaysia’s fiscal position.

Profile information will be obtained through the integration of administrative data from various sources, part of which will be updated by individuals.

PADU is meant to improve management efficiency to facilitate the collection, storage and management of data from various sources.

It also aims to improve the delivery of government services via PADU.

All citizens aged 18 and above must register, check and verify their data on PADU. – Bernama, January 1, 2024.
