ALL OKU (orang kurang upaya) card holders will enjoy free public transport services operated by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) starting February 1 next year, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

He said the initiative involves all mass rapid transit, light rail transit, monorail and Prasarana bus services in the Klang Valley.

Loke said Prasarana was given a month to prepare and coordinate the ticketing system, including giving special concession cards to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

“PWD users only need to show their OKU card issued by the Social Welfare Department and apply for the (special) card.

“Prasarana agreed to provide free rides for PWDs, although it has a financial impact on the company, but this is part of their corporate social responsibility initiative,” he told a press conference at Stadium Kajang MRT station today.

At present, OKU card holders only enjoy a 50% discount for public transport. – Bernama, December 21, 2023.
