LEMBAGA Tabung Haji (TH) has appointed a new chairman, Abdul Rashid Hussain, who is the founder of RHB Group.

The appointment is effective today.

TH group managing director and chief executive officer Syed Hamadah Syed Othman in a statement said TH welcomed the appointment and was grateful to have a respected and experienced corporate figure as a chairman.

Rashid, who established Rashid Hussain Securities in 1983 and grew it into RHB Group, took over from Azman Mokhtar, who held the position from December 20, 2021.

Last year, Rashid was named one of the six members of the Tabung Haji royal commission of inquiry set up to review the fund’s operations between 2014 and 2020.

He chaired the Khazanah Nasional Bhd executive committee from 1994 to 1998.

From 1995 to 2000, he was Putrajaya Holdings Bhd chairman. – December 20, 2023.
