PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim will announce a cabinet reshuffle at 11am today.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said that there will be a slight increase in the number of ministers.
“It’s smaller than the previous, slightly,” he said when asked if the reshuffle would result in a larger cabinet.
Anwar also hinted that he would be delegating some of his current responsibilities.
“I’m transferring some of my tasks,” he said.
The cabinet formed by the unity government in December 2022 consists of 28 ministers and 27 deputy ministers, including the prime minister and two deputy prime ministers.
The domestic trade and cost of living minister became vacant following the death of its incumbent Salahuddin Ayub in July.
Salahuddin, 61, died at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star, Kedah, on July 23, after undergoing surgery due to a brain haemorrhage.
The ministry is currently helmed by Armizan Mohd Ali who is Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Duties Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. – Bernama, December 12, 2023.
