THE Election Court today dismissed a petition to annul the victory of Perikatan Nasional candidate for Gombak Setia, Muhamad Hilman Idham, in the Selangor elections last August.

The decision was made by Ipoh High Court judge Abdul Wahab Mohamed, who sat as Election Court judge.

The petition was filed by a voter, Mohd Shaffie Omar, to challenge the results of the seat based on claims that voters had been bribed by Hilman during the polls.

Lawyer Mohd Radzlan Jalaluddin, representing Hilman, confirmed the matter and said the petition was dismissed with costs of RM25,000.

Lawyer Mohd Hafarizam Harun represented the petitioner.

In the Selangor polls on August 12, Hilman, who obtained 30,299 votes, won the seat, defeating Barisan Nasional candidate Megat Zulkarnain Omardin (30,241 votes) and Independent candidate Mohamed Salim Mohamed Ali (1,076 votes). – Bernama, December 11, 2023.
