UMNO has sacked Isham Jalil, who is a member of the party’s Supreme Council, for criticising and disobeying the president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Berita Harian reports. 

The Malay daily reported that the decision by made by the party leaders last night.

Isham was not present at the two-hour meeting chaired by Zahid and attended by deputy president Mohamad Hasan and three vice-president.

The Umno Supreme Council members condemned Isham’s behaviour, among them Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii, who said that his errant colleague had brought the sacking on himself.

“If looks as thought he deliberately put himself in that position. It is as thought he was trying to make himself more popular, which is an irresponsible thing to do.”

Zahid yesterday ordered Isham to attend the meeting after the former Umno information chief failed three times to appear before the party leaders.

Isham is among the party leaders objecting to Umno’s collaboration with DAP even after the unity government was established in 2022. – December 7, 2023.
