UMNO vice-president Johari Abdul Ghani said the Supreme Council will review Barisan Nasional’s heavy defeat to Perikatan Nasional in the Kemaman by-election adding it was too early to ascertain the reason as it was yet to get the details.

“In the meeting, we will examine how we could have faced a more significant loss than in the 15th general election. We need to study it thoroughly.

“The council will review yesterday’s result in depth,” he was quoted as saying in a report by The New Straits Times today.

In yesterday’s by-election, PAS’ Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar received 64,998 votes, defeating BN’s Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor (27,778 votes).

Samsuri claimed 70% of the ballots.

The by-election was after the Terengganu election court’s decision on September 26 to nullify PAS candidate Che Alias Hamid’s victory in last year’s general election. – December 3, 2023.
