UMNO Supreme Council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has ridiculed Bersatu’s Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof for suggesting that 10 government MPs will defect to Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Puad said that would only happen when Redzuan delivered his “flying car”.
“As long it is impossible for (Redzuan’s) car to fly, it is impossible for 10 people (from the government) to fly to PN,” said Puad on Facebook.
Puad was referring to Redzuan’s claim of building a flying car when he was the entrepreneur development minister in the Pakatan Harapan government led by Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Yesterday, Redzuan said 10 MPs from Pakatan Harapan who would be the “first batch” to make the crossover to PN because they were unhappy with that the coalition government was “led by DAP”.
“Rather than speculation about more Bersatu MPs switching to support the government, I think it is more realistic to talk of government MPs, including those in BN and PKR, switching to support PN to form a new government.
“I heard more than 10 MPs are wanting to switch blocs. They have studied the problems plaguing the government today and realised that the government is led by DAP,” Redzuan said.
He did not name the MPs allegedly considering the switch and did not provide evidence to back his claim.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has also dismissed Redzuan’s claims.
He told opposition politicians to stop issuing statements that would confuse the public.
He said Bersatu politicians might be panicking after several of its MPs decided to cross the aisle.
On Tuesday, Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal joined the list of Bersatu MPs backing Anwar.
This was after four Bersatu MPs pledged support for Anwar. The quartet were Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Zahari Kechik (Jeli). – December 3, 2023.
