PENDANG lawmaker Awang Hashim has said he will make a police report against Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal after claiming in the parliament he was threatened by the Bukit Gantang MP.

Awang created a stir in the chamber when he alleged that Syed Hussin called him two nights ago and threatened him. However, he did not give details of the threat.

Chong Zhemin (PH-Kampar) immediately told Awang to lodge a police report instead of complaining in the chamber.

“If you were threatened, please lodge a police report. Don’t create a perception in the Dewan Rakyat. Go out and file a report so that they can investigate it,” he told him.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul told Awang to file a motion on the matter as the alleged incident did not happen today and it will give him time to investigate it.

“I will file the motion that I was threatened by Bukit Gantang and his family.

“I don’t mind, I have to face it. I’m just afraid that we may get distracted as we have many issues left unresolved by the parliament.

“MPs need to be given protection,” Awang said.

On Tuesday, Syed Hussin was the latest Bersatu lawmaker to declare support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Four MPs from Bersatu have declared support for Anwar.

They are: Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Zahari Kechik (Jeli). – Bernama, November 30, 2023.
