INSPECTOR-General of Police Razarudin Husain said cops were probing into death threats against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Razarudin said one report has been received on the matter.

Earlier today, a screenshot of a TikTok video went viral on social media, where a user offered RM5 million to anyone who shoots Anwar, ministers, or DAP members dead. The video has been removed.

Razarudin said the case would be investigated under sections 507 and 233 of the penal code.

PKR Youth deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the wing’s Putrajaya division lodged a report about the video at the Putrajaya police headquarters at 1.43pm today.

“The video, uploaded by TikTok user jaiadani89, contained threats against the prime minister, with an offer of RM5 million for anyone willing to kill him,” Kamil said at the PKR Annual National Congress at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Kamil urged police to take stern action against the irresponsible person as their actions could jeopardise the country’s security and harmony.

He expressed concern that if such incidents go unaddressed, more people would incite the public and give rise to extremism. – Bernama, November 26, 2023.
