BERSATU co-founder and president Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that he will not defend his post in next year’s party elections.

The Pagoh lawmaker said it is time for him to step down as the party has many capable leaders and that.

“It’s time to let go. I will not defend the president’s post for the next term.

“My final message (is), please take good care of the party. I pray that the transition process will be conducted in an orderly and harmonious manner,” he said at the end of his speech at the Bersatu national delegates conference in Shah Alam, today.

The former prime minister’s decision was met with surprise as delegates immediately urged him to reconsider his decision. – November 24, 2023.
