NEARLY 400 cops and armed forces officers have switched from early voting to postal balloting for the Kemaman by-election.
Terengganu police chief Mazli Mazlan said the instruction was issued to all personnel to post their ballots instead.
“The move is to ensure personnel focus on rescue operations during the flood season,” he said in a media conference on the Kemaman by-election and floods at the Terengganu police headquarters today.
Three people are still involved in early voting on November 28.
The December 2 by-election will see a straight fight between Barisan Nasional’s Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and PAS’ Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
Samsuri is also menteri besar.
Mazli said police have received 16 applications to hold campaign ceramah and programmes from both parties.
“No ceramah permit has been refused so far. Police want to remind all parties that we constantly monitor political party campaigns on social media channels such as YouTube, Facebook and TikTok,” he said. – Bernama, November 23, 2023.
