SKS Airways has denied reports of it being in financial trouble, saying it was looking for investors and seeking to add 20 planes to its 10-craft fleet.

“We wish to reassure all our stakeholders that SKS Airways is on track and remains committed to realising its next phase of growth,” the airline said in a statement today.

The airline said a recent visit by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to officiate its newly renovated hangar at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SAASA) underlines its commitment to growth.

“The new facility, measuring close to 46,000sq ft (4,273.5sq m) will provide ample storage space for aircraft spare parts, tools and equipment, as well as office space.

“This underscores SKS Airways’ readiness for its next phase of growth, contrary to media speculation in the last few days,” it said.

The airline earlier strongly rebutted the speculations.

“It has come to our attention that certain news outlets have reported SKS Airways is seeking funding from various parties to pay for commitments of our 10 Embraer E-195-E2 aircraft.

“These claims are categorically false and reek of mischief. Payments to secure the 10 aircraft were fully paid to our lessor Azzora Aviation Holdings.

“The subsequent payments are due when the aircraft are delivered.

“We have diligently managed our financial obligations, ensuring all payments are made on time and in accordance with our commitments. We do not have any overdue payables, and we have taken great care to ensure that all our employees are fully paid and well taken care of without any exceptions,” it said.

SKS Airways said it was on the lookout for strategic investors for Phase 2 of its growth plan.

“These additional 20 aircraft will play a crucial role in our continued growth when the government’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan is completed.”

The airline said that in October, Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) expressed its support to ensure a smooth and successful commencement of SKS Airways’ jet operations at SAASA in 2024.

“MAHB acknowledged the timeline submitted by SKS Airways aligned with the completion of the renovation of (SAASA) next year.

“MAHB’s support is a significant milestone for SKS Airways as it validates our vision and strategic plans for the airport.

“With MAHB’s backing, we are confident in our ability to establish a strong presence at the Subang airport, contributing to its transformation into a thriving aviation hub and Malaysia’s premier city airport,” it said.

SKS Airways also said the leadership of the airline was entrusted to executive director and accountable manager Rohman Ahmad. – November 23, 2023.
