NEGRI Sembilan police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof advised schools and parents not to panic if they receive emails of bomb threats at schools.

He said they must promptly report the matter to police to enable further action.

“Negri Sembilan police take bomb threats seriously, and immediate action will be taken to ensure students are in a safe environment, thus alleviating parents’ concerns about their safety,” he said in a statement today.

He advised the public not to spread false news as it could cause anxiety and threaten public safety.

Earlier, Dzaffir said Negri Sembilan police received three reports over bomb threats at three private schools, one each in Seremban and Port Dickson today, and another in Rembau yesterday.

He said the Negri Sembilan Bomb Disposal Unit were deployed to each location for investigation.

Dzaffir said police, with the Fire and Rescue Department and school authorities, evacuated the schools, and the initial investigations found no bombs at the three schools mentioned in the emails.

“The emails contained fake information intended to cause disturbance in the schools and to parents. The cases are being investigated under section 507 of the penal code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for making criminal threats,” he said.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain reportedly said cops received 37 reports of bomb threats at schools nationwide as at 2pm today, with 15 reports in Selangor, six each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, three in Penang, two each in Perak and Negri Sembilan, and one each in Kedah, Sarawak and Sabah. – Bernama, November 22, 2023.
